Will technology help keep a lid on health-care costs?
I've been hearing about upcoming advances such
as super inexpensive diagnostics on a chip.
Imagine if people could buy a home device for $100
that could quickly do a workup on someone's urine
and/or blood chemistry. Perhaps it could generate
a report that you could take to your physician,
saving their time, your time, and having to
send samples out to a diagnostic lab.
In general, I'm under the impression that given
sufficiently high technology, we can push
more medicine into the real of "do it yourself"
and therefore make healthcare quicker and cheaper.
