Why are there so many atheists in the Religion/Spirituality category?

  • It seems to me that if you don't believe in something, it should be of no consequence to you. So why would you hang out here and devote so much time to the topic?

I can't have dairy, and so it is of no consequence to me. So you wouldn't find me hanging out in a cheese-themed chat room.

I think that's the thing I least understand about atheism. So much time is spent attacking others' belief systems and trying to be clever... why does it even matter to y'all?

  • Because they don't try to push their views on us.
Because their not filled with hate.
Because they have respect for us, even tho they don't believe.
Wait...... maybe I got that wrong.

  • The religion and spirituality section is to ask and answer religion and spirituality questions, the name of the section indicates the topic of the questions and not the label of the people who participate here.

  • because there is.

We know that there is no need to believe in imaginary friends any longer.

We started realizing this when people started dying, and undeveloped babies not being given a fair chance in life.

Who does this and what kind of god is this?

What after 7 days he quits...?

Oops I forgot, he rested on the seventh day.

  • I think I have said this a million times now....When you post your question in Mythology then we will stop posting here...until then we are gonna force feed you rationality and education whether you like it or not.

  • Maybe they want to believe so they are drawn to the categories... an atheist that doesnt care and want to care would'nt waste his/her time... i would take it as a compliment that they chose your posting.

  • Atheists don't think that God is real. But organized religion, and the effects that it has on society, are very, very real; THAT'S the issue.

  • I don't know why it wouldn't have come up with similar results...

Anyway, the reason I'm here is because there are a lot of questions directly aimed at Atheists. Also because we have no section of our own, and I like to debate religion, it's a hobby...

  • Stop saying "don't believe" We believe very strongly in the non-existence of the thing you describe as the supreme being.

  • Because they nothing else better to do, than mock someone else god.

  • Being an Athiest has nothing to to with not being spiritual, it just means that you dont believe in god. And I dont htink you have to believe in god to be spiritual, spirit is just another name for a conscience. Plus like you christians I do like to get my point across, and if anone has any questions regarding my beliefe I am here ready to answer.

  • well actually it does have alot of concequence to us, for a quick example, we pay more taxes to keep the churches running, so we are paying for a service we dont want, how is that fair?
surely you should have to pay a special church tax, or, every body should pay an atheist tax which is spend on making beer cheaper.

  • We keep telling you: We tried the Cats section and all people wanted to talk about were CATS.

  • Many gives the religion idea a try, but when the teachings do not relate to your daily life because of distortions, it is easy to give it up and decide to be an atheist. People have not woken up to their responsability that we have a free will and we MUST make choices ourselves, not let the responsability over to governments who serve the structure of its own greed. It is natural to try to convince others about your own point of view and if the soul is not mature, it will attack others' beliefsystems.

Distortions are all things and deeds that is a crime against evolution; greed, money, pollution, culture of violence and lies in media etc. These crimes make the world unhealthy and we must say a distinct NO to selfishness and greed in order to influence the mechanism that hurts our souls and our environment. When people get in trouble they usually tend to turn for guidance by higher powers, which is good, but they forget the choices of free will before the crisis appeared. Believing is a committment, you have to have a desire in order to get. Ask and it shall be given, not forced upon, as free will is a Law of Everything and a gift given by the Guardian Of Divine.

  • Religious crazys "attack my belief system" when they show up at my door.... or tell me I'm going to hell, not because they don't like me, but just because that's what they believe... seriously

  • Is not this proves there is no one called " Atheis " ?
It is just a denial of truth, that is it.

  • here we go again

    *drink*

You know this is my seventh beer and I still only feel a slight buzz.

Is it time for me to switch to hard liquor?

  • Go ask Yahoo why they advertise this section's questions in Atheist-Area.

  • Because religion is a corrosive force that aims to impose itself on our lives. If it wasn't for the assertions of religion, there would be no need for Atheism.

  • ACk....faints dead away

This question has been asked so many times the atheists have made a drinking game out of it.

Now, for my two points I would suggest you google "Atheism is a religion" and find out that the United States Court system has ruled that Atheism is indeed a religion (and boy do they hate it when I say this) so they are welcome to be here.

  • eh? trying to get me drunk are you?

  • All people are searching for God. And of course all atheists are in this cathegory. Even that are some of them who belive that in fact "don`t belive".

Because of that, we - who belive in God - must love the other ones.

    Kyrie eleison!

  • I suppose because an atheist is by definition someone who has thought long and hard about this subject, and even though they have arrived at a conclusion that is not the same as yours or other believers, they still have an interest in it. Speaking for myself, I'm an atheist but I am still really interested in religion. Furthermore, I am also interested in how people have maintained their faith whilst I lost mine, and why the arguments or logic that impacted on me make no difference to them.

  • When religous nuts stop going around and preaching to me, tell me I'm going to hell and how to live my life, then I will get out of the religous section on YA. Let me live my life the way I want to and I will let you live the way you want to. Don't pass laws that restrict my life because your religion says it is wrong. Let God sort us out.

  • Get used to it, we're taking over the world.

  • Well real athiests are opposite to true christians but apply the same in the sense that you dont force your view upon someone else youll only state your case and leave it at that and let your word be decided by the opponent but also athiesm like christianity are both whether they admit it or not is a form of religion in the sense that it has oppions and views that they believe.

  • Gods are of no consequence to me. The actions of their fanclubs often worry me.

  • When pendulum of clock is moving toward right, it's gaining the moment for it's journey towards left. Mind is clever and always tries to consolidate answers for itâ ™s convenience. Both atheists and theists are doing the same thing.

  • Hi Pot, this is the Kettle. How are you tonight?

  • Because I like to discuss religion. I think it's an important topic.
And it's a free country (still)

Do you know this question is asked at least 100 times a day?
    *drink

  • some of those belief systems attack the way those people are allowed to live their lives.

i don't get the cheese argument I'm quite sure they are not allergic to religion - break out in boils and such like.

atheist is an extreme reaction, one would suggest that the amount your complaining about would suggest an overall breakdown of religion...

personally i think they are scared that the big guy wont help us until we help ourselves.

that being the case they need you religious guys to get your nose off the floor and the knees of the pew and go and demand the man who actually can change things - Does.

  • I usually skim the home page, when I see a question for atheists I just answer it. I don't actually hang out in R&S. If you don't like it you can go somewhere else.
