Religion and Spirituality Yahoo Answers!?

  • When I first got on here, I thought it would be a nice learning experience with other christians or believers in religion/spirituality. I have a hard time understanding why Atheists are even on here, if they believe in no gods or goddess and they believe not in the terms "good & evil" but rather to term it as "what is acceptable and not acceptable in society", Why if they believe in nothing religious or spiritual are they posting on this section of Religion/Spirituality, they should be posting more on Political issues. Do you think?

  • this is not a christian exclusive forum... those of all beliefs are welcome here

sippin de caf loaded crem sodi
    .

  • Im a jedi, may the force be with you

  • Because for many of them, their belief in the non-existence of a higher power is as strong as your belief that higher powers DO exist.

That said, some of them are just jerks. But then, the same can be said for the followers of most of the other religions too.

  • Some are on here for the discussion of Religion/Spirituality,,,others just like to irritate Christians, to make them aggravated, to try and show a gap in the Christians belief, or faith, to show it's not that strong.

  • It would be nice to only answer Biblical interpretive questions or doctrinal issues--thats not the way it is. Accept and adjust to the need at the time.

If you want an answer to this question. Do a search and check out the answers for one of the 100s of times this exact same question has been asked. I'm sick of answering it.

  • No. I'm not surprised by this question, after you just said no atheist is useful to society. We have as much right to be here as you.

    *drink*

  • This question has been asked nearly 6000 times. Apparently we still have the ability to baffle the Christians.

  • Wow, I just walked in from work and the drinking already starts.

Hon, this gets asked constantly. The section does not say its only for people who have religion, but its about religion. Religion has a serious impact on society and effects all of us, whatever we do or don't believe. We have a right to present our point of view. I like reading different ideas.

  • Join a good Christian group on Yahoo Groups. I did.
Remember that Christians believe in GOD. No gods, no goddesses.
Atheists, Satanists and others do not believe in God at all, yet they are allowed here due to the First Amendment's right to the freedoms of speech and religious expressions.
And, if you are a Christian, ANYONE who does not believe in God and is speaking here, DON'T let them distract you and sidetrack you into "useless questions and debates". That is PRECISELY what they'd like to do to you!

  • Is'nt having no religion a religion? Aethiests are more often, much more morally centered than religious people, and not nearly as hypocritical. We would just like you to open your mind, and not shut everything out exept what you've been spoonfed by religious fanatics who are also narrow minded. I believe in something much more intelligent and reasonable than vague writings done by pre-civilized man.

  • Well, for those that are sick of answering it, quit posting an answer.

I agree with you but I think that they are still (even though they won't admit it) still seeking for answers in their lives and watching to see how we react to everything they try to throw at us.

  • *Drink*

  • First of all I would like to say that "atheist" is not the same as "spiritually deprived" and more importantly, we DO NOT believe that the social acceptability of something is a measure of its morality, or disbelieve in "spirituality."

We are defined by the fact that we are not gullible enough to believe in YOUR God...Or, indeed ANY God. God being defined as an all powerful entity that exists (apparrently,) assuage your fear of the unknown, and promise retribution to those who don't agree with you, and eternal rewards to you and your buddies, AFTER YOU HAVE CEACED TO EXIST...

As for atheists being confined to "political issues," RELIGION IS A POLITICAL ISSUE!!!

    po·lit·i·cal(p-lt-kl)
    adj.
    1. Of, relating to, or dealing with the structure or affairs of government, politics, or the state.
    2. Relating to, involving, or characteristic of politics or politicians: "Calling a meeting is a political act in itself" Daniel Goleman.
    3. Relating to or involving acts regarded as damaging to a government or state: political crimes.
    4. Interested or active in politics: I'm not a very political person.
    5. Having or influenced by partisan interests: The court should never become a political institution.
    6. Based on or motivated by partisan or self-serving objectives: a purely political decision.

Each and every aspect of a person's life is affected by their personal view of the universe, if you believe that "everything is in God's hands," you absolve yourself from any personal responsibility while at the same time working to enforce the "laws of God," in the political forum, which, in our country, is supposed to keep church and state separate...

Yahoo! Answers is EXACTLY the kind of forum needed to help Theists and Atheists come to an understanding of each other, and I will admit that many atheists are prejudiced towards Christians, but usually not as prejudiced as Christians are towards Atheists, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and everyone that doesn't believe in Jesus...

We may not believe in God, but why should it bother you? Won't we all be tortured for eternity in hell? Isn't our every immoral thought and practice just here so you can be strengthened in your Godly faith? Why decry the Atheist? You should be praising God, and thanking us for making your life more difficult and therefore more glorious to God...Right?

  • Many years ago, when I was a young boy of about 6 or 7, I was out playing in my backyard.
At one point I looked at the ground and saw these two ants, - one black and one red, - locked in mortal combat.
I found this utterly fascinating, so I laid down upon the ground so as to get a closer look at the duel.

As I continued to watch somethng caught my eye. I looked and, behold: I saw two OTHER ants fighting each other.

Thinking that this could not be a coincidence, I surveyed the ground before me, - and I was in awe...
...for all around me, as far as I could see,--- I was in the middle of a war!...

Feeling that this grand discovery was something I had to share with my friends, I got up from the ground to go tell them about it.
I went to brush myself off and was taken aback by the surreal sight of scores of ants which were scattered about on the front of my shirt and jeans.

Most of them were either dead or dying, having been crushed by the weight of my body.
Yet there were still a few who, oblivious to their actual location, were still trying to kill each other.

I watched them for a bit longer and, when I got tired of watching them,...
    ...I just brushed them off.

Why did I post this story?...
I find the conflicts between theists and atheists to be almost as exhilarating as watching those ants at war with one another.
    Why so?
Because the ant war allowed me to know what it must be like, - albeit only for just a spell,...
    ... to be a God.

    ---..."LET THE GAMES BEGIN!"...---

    P.S. Oh, yes!...almost forgot: ..."Skol!"...*clink*

  • They are not any where near as bad as how some of the supposedly Christians treat their brothers and sisters in Faith

  • It's sad to realize that you are serious. It really is.

    Not at all surprising, though.

  • I usually think, yes.

  • Is this a drinking question? I think it qualifies!

    Why are we here? Because:

    1. we can be, since it is an open forum
    2. religion affects all of our lives, even those who don't follow one
    3. spirituality can, and does, exist outside of religion.
    4. it's a good way to avoid housework

    *DRINK!*

  • Hi, Kiki.

This R&S section is like mud-wrestling - if you are going to play, you better not mind getting dirty.

I love the Lord Jesus and am glad to share with others - sometimes the questions are honest, often they are sarcastic.

#1 rule: Don't be offended at what people write. Laugh, pray, ask God for wisdom, and go on.

    god bless!!

  • You appear to have the typical self-centered attitude of most religionists... only people who think like you do should be allowed, eh?

  • Do you have to be a hamburger in order to have an opinion about them? This is not a forum for the proclamation of the Gospel. It is a forum for asking and answering questions about religion and spirituality. That is the biggest challenge facing humanity at present - finding ways to talk about the things that matter most to us with people who disagree with us, and learning not to assume that those with opposing viewpoints have nothing to say that is worth listening to.

  • Atheist do have the right to come to this topic on yahoo answers. One may never know exactly what is going on with the atheist.
It could be fate, drawing them closer to a understanding with religion to finally convert someday.
It is the personal Jesus that works with everyone from the persons own needs from inside.
Their own reasoning may not be that such of fates. Fate and God do have their crucial ways in working out in everyones life.

  • Are liver transplants available? *hick*

  • I believe in good and evil. I think you and yours are evil, so that is why I am here.

  • wooohoo! Drinkeypoo time!

I like how you said it would be a nice learning experience with other Christians or believers... its like you're assuming Jesus is the only religion (and he might as well be- he's the only hot one I've seen... buddah scares me- that's a lot of belly for my little smurfhole)

  • this IS a political issue, if you christian fundamentalists will stop trying to put the 10 commandments in courts, or say God Bless America left and right, and the first questions news pundits ask is do you love God, then I have to stand up.

This is a war, a war of being portrayed a sadistic freak while you christys going around with your fake "love everyone" crap.

The Constitution does not promote nor condone any religion, nor can it, it's the 1st amendment, if you want to put God into government why the hell don't you get the hell out. Stop HATING AMERICA CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALISTS!

  • Because it is an open forum for people to not only share common opinions, but also to debate. You might also ask why do many Christians post mean and hateful questions on here when R&S according to Christianity is about loving one another....

  • DRINK!!!

This isn't the section only for people who adhere to a religious belief or spirituality. This is the section in which question and answers pertaining to the subjects of religion and spirituality can be posted and shared.

It's not an exclusive club, and it's rather close-minded to think that only the religious have something to say on the subject.

  • I have a variety of reasons being here, right now I am pursuit of knowledge.

  • Anyone can post. Even atheists. Despite not really having any belief and more or less a concept. And besides they do have views on the subject.
